Summary
The episode starts out as Light is notified that the second Kira has sent another message, and this time there is a video and diary. Light looks at the diary, which is dated for last year (2006) and it says that on the “30th of May” that the presense of Shinigami was confirmed at Tokyo Dome. Then, Light looks at one line about meeting and looking at each others’ notebooks in Aoyama. Now back to Misa, Misa is asking Rem why she can’t see her own lifespan. Rem states that Death Note users only need to see the lifespans of people they kill, and this is the reason why even Shinigami can’t see their own lifespans. Light, meanwhile, is staring at the Aoyama entry, deducing that this is the real message, since the police would be concentrating at the Tokyo Dome. L asks Light what he thinks, and Light says that it looks pretty stupid to him. The rest of the police force is worried about the game, and L states that they will broadcast the diary and cancel the game, having all the roads around the dome controlled by them. Furthermore, they would broadcast a reply from Kira agreeing to meet, despite the fact that the real Kira probably won’t show but it is unsure about the second Kira. But, in either case, L says that they should keep a close eye on all the locations, and especially on Aoyama and Shibuya. Light thinks to himself that he thought L would think this, and volunteers to go to Aoyama and Shibuya undercover. When Light leaves, L calls Matsuda and tells him to keep a close eye on Light. When Light gets home, he tells his mom and sister that he has a girlfriend which is why he is late. Light closes the door of his room and asks Ryuk about shinigami, and confirms that the second Kira’s shinigami might tell second Kira about Ryuk. On the computer, Light is suprised by the second Kira’s intelligience, since on the 22nd there is an event in the “Note Blue” nightclub (Aoyama means Blue mountain). Therefore, visiting Note Blue would be a good idea.
At Aoyama, Matsuda is introduced to Light’s friends, who he brought in case the second Kira’s shinigami tells the second Kira of Ryuk. In that case, the second Kira wouldn’t be able to tell who was Kira since there was a group of people around. Light goes by the Note Blue but doesn’t notice anyone, however, inside, Misa is sitting inside with a wig and glasses on. She looks in the group and notices that Light does not show a life span, thus figuring out that he is Kira, and remembering his name. After accomplishing this, she decides to go home, since it would be bad for him to meet with her since there are so many people around, and she already knows his name. At home, she looks up information about Light, and is very excited, since she knows his name, address and everything else. At the secret headquarters, the police force, L, and Light confirm that there was nothing really suspicious. At that moment, Watari tunes in and broadcasts a message from the second Kira, which thanks the police force since the second Kira has found the real Kira. They are distressed about this fact, but L says that it is unlikely that the second Kira and Kira have met yet, and they should offer some terms to the second Kira, making Light a bit distressed since he can’t stop them. The message asks the second Kira to help the police force and not follow Kira. At that moment, Misa leaves the house, and heads over to Light’s. She asks to see Light, stating that she is a classmate that has a notebook that Light had left at the university. Light understands, and comes down, confronting Misa. Misa tells him that she came over since he might have worried about her after the T.V broadcast. She shows Light the notebook, and Light touches the notebook, allowing him to see Rem, thus confirming that Misa is the second Kira.
He brings Misa in, upstairs to his bedroom, closing the door behind him. After she sits down, he asks her how she found out, and she tells him that Death Note users don’t have their lifespans showing, and Light wouldn’t know since he doesn’t have the shinigami eyes. Light looks at Ryuk, a bit annoyed, but Ryuk himself is a bit suprised, since he didn’t know that. Light tells Misa that if she got caught, Kira’s secrets would be revealed. Misa tells him that she knows this, but with his guidance she wouldn’t make a wrong move. Instead, she would be his eyes, in exchange for being his girlfriend. Light tells him that this is impossible because some security cameras would have captured her picture in Aoyama, but she shows him photos of how she looked then (totally different). Light then asks about fingerprints, to which Misa tells him that she didn’t have her fingerprints on the envelopes, and had a friend turn it in for her, not knowing what it was, and that she would kill her if he was that suspicious. Furthermore, Misa offers Light her notebook to hold if he really doesn’t trust her at all, and if she is useless to him in any way, he could kill her. Light, though, isn’t bought by it, and tells her that she might have torn a piece of the notebook and hidden it, to which Misa falls to the floor, sad because she just wants to help. She tells him that her parents were murdered, and the murderer got away, until one day Kira passed judgement on him, so no matter what, she wanted to meet him (Kira). Light comprehends that she isn’t as stupid as he thought. He gets up, walks towards Misa and hugs her. He tells her that he understands, and that even though he can’t be her boyfriend, he can pretend to be, and the eyes that she traded for him would serve as a great weapon. Zooming a bit more into their hug, we can see Light’s evil expression, as he snickers to himself mentally.
Differences
- The point about the life-span showing wasn’t clearly said in the anime. It makes no sense when you talk about in terms of Death Note users, because Shinigami can see the lifespan of Death Note users (as we saw in Episode 2 with Light)
Ideas
- I think this episode gave me goosebumps. So evil XD
