Summary
  This episode begins where we left off, the challenge by L towards Kira. Light is enraged of this challenge, and we zoom towards the police station. There the debriefing begins about the number of deaths. The numbers closely range as the ones in the manga.
  On weekdays, 68% of the deaths happened after 6:30pm, and on the weekends began mostly at 11am to the end of the day. L listens to this and states that Kira is probably a student with immature childish philosophy who wants to try to become God. L says that it would be the best if everyone just accepts this since it would be the quickest way to his arrest. Matsuda then stands up and states that the crime rates had gone down, saying that it was not any way to affirm his actions, but a fact. He later apologizes for this to the chief after L’s last message. L tells the police to look into the media coverage in Japan and whether or not faces and names of the criminals were shown. When Matsuda apologizes later after his comment to the chief, Yagami says that’s alright.
  We zoom back to Light’s house where he is helping his sister Sayu. They have nice dinner with the family, and discuss somethings. Back in his room, Ryuuk asks Light if he is confident because his dad is a police chief. Light affirms to this, stating that he can get into the police records without getting caught. He also states that L is probably catching up, going back to question Ryuk about the Death Note rule of determining the person’s way of dying. He tells Ryuk that he can probably amuse him some more.
  In the next moment, it’s daytime and while Light is at school, people start dying, 23 total with a one hour limit between them. This is discussed at the Police station, and L tells the police that it does decrease the fact that he is a student, but the main purpose of Kira was to say that he could “choose the type of death” for his criminals. L’s thoughts tell us that it was odd that it happened right after they had suspected he was a student, and that he has a way to get information from the police. Light, confirms this, and when Ryuk questions why Light would want L to know that he was affiliated with the police, Light says that it would just be a matter of time before the police get fed of L and then he would be alone.
  As time would have it, the next scene shows the resignation of some police officers who are too scared to work on the case. At school, Ryuk walks to the window and notices a shadow standing there. On the way home, Ryuk tells Light that he is not on anyone’s side, and is just following him because he has the notebook. Light says that he already knows this, but asks why he is telling him this. Ryuk answers with telling him that someone is following him and it’s getting on his nerves. Light stops in his tracks to affirm this and tells Ryuk that he will try to get rid of this. He then deduces that they must work for L and he must appear as a normal student as well as get the name of the person following him so he might get rid of him. Ryuk then tells Light a couple of things:

• That Shinigami use Death Note because if they kill people before their time, their remaining life gets added to the Shinigami’s.
• Shinigami can’t die by human ways.
• That Shinigami know the name of a person and lifespan because of their eyes.
• That Light can get the Shinigami eyes by giving up half of his own remaining lifespan.

  Light then confirms that Ryuk wouldn’t tell Light the name of the humans. Ryuk agrees that this is so, since there is also a rule against it. Light says that if he had the shinigami eyes he would really be able to use the Death Note then.

Differences

• We actually see Ryuk with Light at school, this wasn’t really seen in the manga
• At school, we see that Ryuk notices that Light was being followed for the first time (the shadow)
• The scene with Light’s dad came a bit later than in the manga, so it’s a bit weird.

Ideas

• I really liked how they showed Ryuk at school with Light, I always wondered if he actually went with him
• The action was also very nice when Light killed those 23 people while he was at school.
