anime >> Episode 35 (Murderous Intent)

Episode thirty-five by Hana.

Basic Information

  • Episode: 35 (Murderous Intent)
  • Characters: Light (and team), Misa, Mikami, Takada, Near (and team), Matt, Mello
  • New Characters: None.
  • Number of Deaths: None.

Summary
A foreboding song is played in the beginning of this episode. Takada gets a call from Mikami saying that he has “confirmed” it. A text to Light implies the same message. Near calls Light telling him that he wants to meet him in person with everyone who is after Kira at a wharf at a time in the day time. These factors have assured both sides that they will win this fight.

Takada meets up with Light and uses her to relay a message to Mikami regarding the day of the Kira meeting. As Takada walks into her show, outside Matt appears in his car and shoots out a smoke bomb. Mello appears on a motorbike and gets Takada to get on the bike with him. Ridner allows it and gets the other guards to follow them but Mello escapes and handcuffs Takada. Matt tries to run away but is cornered by many guards. He gets out of the car expecting them not to shoot so that they can find Mello, but they do, and Matt (such a cool character!) is killed. Mello goes somewhere and makes Takada take off her clothes. Takada has to hide the piece of Death Note paper. She contacts Light later and tells him that she has done what he told her to do at the time. She wrote Mihael Keehl’s name on the paper, killing Mello!! She is ordered by Light to call Mikami and does so as she cries. By the time Ridner reaches the place where Mello would be at, the place is burned down and Takada has committed suicide, burning herself to death as the Death Note (Mikami) made her do.

Differences

  • Some of the little screens in the manga were cut off, the largest one being Mikami writing in the notebook.
  • Some conversations cut off but not really that big.
  • Matt’s lines were cut off moreover.

Ideas

  • It was weird to see Matt’s death since we literally only saw him once? It didn’t seem it important to kill him off as it did in the manga.
