Idea: Basically, the idea of this layout was to make it easy to navigate, good for death note, and as Guan demonstrated, she included all of the main characters. The banner was pretty complicated, and Shaza drew the strings on the extra demons on the side, to make it look like they were dangling a puppet. Shaza actually got the idea from the Godfather cover for that.

Procedure: The main image is a picture of Raito with the background of countless Shinigami. It took Guan about 2 hours to just clean this image and erase all the words on it… Guan then took a cover of the Weekly Jump featuring Near and Mello and cleaned the edges, then positioned it on top of the main picture. (It was an extremely painful process to clean the image.) Then, Guan found the best L picture possible and layered it on top of the shinigami using some special ninja photoshop technique. Some of the wall edges were drawn by Guan to have more space for other characters, but the really painful procedure in making of this layout is the colors. To adjust the colors, Guan tried every color possible to overlay the image, and it frustrated her because it just looked so plain. After Guan had done the main banner, she turned it over to Shaza, whom added some finishing touches by adding more shinigami and adjusting the colors. Shaza didn’t really had to do anything to the main banner, but since the side was a little cut off, she drew in the corners of the rock and made the shinigami “puppet” the main menu (look at the strings). Shaza basically wanted a fairly simple layout to fill in all the content with, and she added a couple lines here and there, and at the bottom. The repeating background and everything. So that’s about it.
