Summary
In this continuation of Death Note, all is chaos as L and Watari have both been murdered by Rem and along with Rem while she was protecting Misa as part of Raito’s plot. It beings ten days since their deaths in the task force HQ with Raito and the group talking the situation over while awaiting the chief’s return. They say L was put to rest and are looking into Watari’s background, discovering he is actually a wealthy inventor named “Quillish Wammy” who helped open many orphanages around the world where he is widely renown.

The scene shifts to one of said orphanages where kids are playing, inparticularly Mello and Near. An unknown man who apparently knew Watari seems upset, then the scene shifts back to Raito. Back at HQ, the chief returns complaining about his report, mentioning that he did not say L was dead in fear of what would happen to the investigation. Having said that, the group decides to keep L’s death a secret and pretend to still be working under his directions.

Next on this list is who should take L’s (and as well, Watari’s) place and with a psuedo reluctancy, Light is moved up to L’s position and begins working on how to duplicate to the world that he is L with believability through the computer. They also decide that they should move the HQ due to the recent deaths and go with a new apartment Soichiro rents for Light. “What do we do about the notebook” is the next question of many that have to be pondered, and everyone volunteers the Chief/Soichiro for the job. Aizawa also notes that Rem “the shinigami” disappeared along with the deaths, causing the Chief to make note that Rem told them about there being more than one Death Note in this world and is finally concluded that it must be true, and no longer a possibility.

Later that day Raito, with Ryuuk and Misa, is walking in the city and Ryuuk questions if the battle is truly over. Misa exclaims that Light wins, but Ryuuk seems disappointed as his interests seem to have deteriorated, but Raito reassures the shinigami, then invites Misa to live with him at the apartment. Misa is shocked, but enthusiastic and naive, Ryuuk points out to himself.

Back at the orphanage, the unknown man is seen receiving confirmed word that “L is dead” from the message he had been watching. Upon this news he goes to get the two orphans Mello and Near, and one of the orphans calls him Mr. Rogers. Rogers reveals in his office to a very concerned Mello and reclusive, puzzle-solving Near that L is dead.

1. How do Near and Mello come into play in the new chapters?
2. What relations to Near and Mello have to L?
3. How does Raito handle being both L and Watari, living with Misa, and still bringing justice to the world?! XD
4. Will Ryuuk ever be bored again? ^_
