Summary
Light meets a girl to go on a date. When Ryuk tries to guess about the criminal, Light questions if he didn’t see what he wrote in the notebook, at which Ryuk affirms, saying that he didn’t because that would be boring. Now, reaching the girl, she clings to him and tells him how excited she is to go to Space Land with him. The follower tails Light from behind, thinking to himself that he usually goes to school or night school, but now he goes to an amusement park, thus he making him an excellent student. The agent then writes that Light is no longer under suspicion by him, and says that after that day’s assignment, he is done. He boards the bus along with Light and his date.

Then, the marijuana addict (Osoreda) shows up on the bus. Light says that the timing is perfect and there are only eight people on the bus. Next, Osoreda points the gun towards the driver and says that he is hijacking the bus, and when the people scream, he says that he’ll kill anyone who makes a scene. Next, he tells the driver to call spaceland to tell them that the bus is hijacked, and when he does so, he takes the phone and confirms this, demanding that a financial report from Space Land needs to be brought by a girl two stops before space land. If they do anything like call the police, he threathens, the passengers on the bus will die.

As the follower watches, and Light sits in the seat, he passes a note to his date saying that he’ll try to attack the hand with the gun, since his dad taught him that and the hijacker is small. The follower, seeing this, leans over Light and tells him that it is dangerous, and he will handle it. At this, Light quickly writes on paper, to which the guy who was tailing him says that he doesn’t have to write on tha paper since the hijacker can’t hear them. At this, Light stuffs the note in his pocket, and Light tells him that he can tell that he (the tailer) isn’t Japanese from his accent, to which he agrees, saying that he is American. At this, Light asks him to prove to him that he isn’t the criminal’s

partner, explaining to his date that this sort of thing happens a lot, when there are actually two criminals, and one is hiding somewhere. At this, the tailer thinks to himself that there is no way around it, and Light can’t be Kira because if he was, then the criminal would have died of a heart attack by now. Thus, he hands over his ID card, making Light suprised, since he notices that he is from the FBI. The man’s name is Raye Penber. Light tells Penber that he believes him, but he doesn’t know why the FBI is here. When he asks if he has a gun, Penber tells him he does, and thus Light says that he’ll leave it to him. Penber thinks to himself about Kira and why the police think he’s in Japan, furthermore, more American criminals have died, and thus finding him wouldn’t be in the Japanese police. In either case, Penber wants to concentrate on saving the lives at hand, and he notices that the man is actually one who robbed a bank a couple days ago after killing people, so he is very dangerous. At this the criminal is staring ahead, when the note Light was writing on falls from his pocket. The criminal heads over asking what the scrap of paper is, as Penber puts his hand in his jacket for his gun, since he thinks that its the scrap of paper Light was using earlier to write to him with.

Instead, the paper is actually a date note (has a date on it) and the criminal throws it back on Light, while Light thinks that everything is perfect. When he starts to threathen again, he turns around, and then screams, asking what that “thing” is at the back. It turns out that it is just Ryuk, who stares at him, amused that he can see him. When he goes to shoot him, Penber tells everyone to get down since he is hallucinating, at which Light gets down with his date. Ryuk then comments, that he now understands that notebook paper that Light ripped out was a piece of the DEATH NOTE and the criminal can now see him. The criminal fires bullets into Ryuk to no avail, as Ryuk tells him that shinigami aren’t hurt by that sort of thing. He repeats what he told Light, and says that Light it is no wonder that Light is the smartest in the world, since he used a hijacker to figure out the name of the person following him. The criminal runs out of bullets and runs out of the bus, towards the door, however, a car comes from the other side, and runs him over, bringing about his death. Looking down, Light thinks to himself that everything is perfectly on time, and what he wrote in the DEATH NOTE can be seen in the background, as being carried out perfectly.
