Summary
This chapter basically introduced the whole character of Mikami Teru and his past, so on. It started by saying that Mikami as a child had a very clear sense of justice to most Japanese. However, he was also obviously less fortunate than most Japanese. All people he wanted to clear off all die. It was all a coincidence, maybe.

To Mikami, because of his strong sense of justice, people in the world only divided into good and bad, comrades and foes. In elementary school, he set goals to make his class the best in Japan. While he worked towards justice, there existed evil and oppositions. He will often help those who got bullied, so eventually, others who ignored his goals or opposed him gave in and became friends with him. However, his justice only existed up to middle school. As people grew older, it got harder to convey them to Mikami’s view of justice. He was often bullied and laughed at. So he slowly started the idea to eliminate all bullies and wicked ones.

Born in a single parent family, Mikami talked to his mother about everything. So he told his mother about his idea, but she told him that it was impossible to have everything his way. And she told him to not be stuborn anymore.

Mikami then thought that his mother was wrong and that he was right. Then, miracle happened. The four bullies who bullied him died in a car accident, and his mother also died in that accident. At first he was scared, but then he slowly accepted his joy and others’ joy without the wicked ones. This strengthened his goal of eliminate the criminals as he went through high school and then univerisity. And there were 9 people died who opposed him. He believed that justice was to punish evil. Mikami worked towards in becoming a judge because he believed that judge symbolized justice. Just as he worked hard for justice, Kira appeared. Miakmi was so happy and after all these years of wanting justice, his dream had finally came true. And that God had finally answered him, and looked at everything he had done, and agreed with his actions.

Mikami appeared in every place possible to get noticed by Kira. Finally, God found him, and shared his power with him.

End of Mikami’s monologue/introduction, we see scenes with Mikami writing down criminals’ names and murmuring “eliminate” repeatedly. In the end, Ryuuku told him that he would return to Kira, and that he was only a shinigami, not “god”. Mikami’s god was Kira. Mikami was happy to take on the job of Kira and asked his god to take a break. His twisted personality made him working non stop of writing criminals’ names.
