Summary
The chapter begins with Mogi and Misa. Misa is talking some worthless crap, and Mogi just answers her without any interest, while a microphone reveals their conversation to Mello. Mello is contemplating Misa being the second Kira and is swaying towards the negative, when he gets a call from Mat. Mat tells him that he is bored and both Mogi and Misa are not making any suspicious moves. Mello says for him to stay put and thinks about what moves Near is making and what he exactly expects him to do. Zooming out, we see Lester reporting to Near about Light. He is telling him about how he attended Touou University and helped the NPA from 2000-2002. However, when Lester questioned some students about Light he received some strange commentary. The students told him that at the entrance ceremony, Light Yagami was not the only one with the highest score. There was also another student, Hideki Ryuuga(who has no existing pictures) that also attended the opening ceremony. Ryuuga, Light, and Misa were always known to hang out with each other, and disappeared together as well. Upon hearing this, Near immediately concludes that it the pieces all fit together. That Light is Kira, Misa is the second Kira, and Ryuuga was L. Directly afterwards, Near quickly concludes everything about what happened. Playing with his finger puppets,

Near deduces that all he needs right now is the evidence. Mogi is keeping watch on Misa, Aizawa on Light, and if there were any further suspicions they would contact Near. He concludes that the person murdering people right now is not Kira or Misa, and he needs proof of the person who is now working as Kira— but that doesn’t mean that the real Kira is not Light. L must have driven Misa and Light into a restraining corner, but Kira convinced L that he was innocent with the 13-day rule and even convincing L, he was able to kill him. Near thinks to himself that he should just face this fact or fall into risk of being killed.

Continuing his thoughtful arguments, Near thinks that Kira is proud and he didn’t just pass the role over to someone random, that he entrusted the role but he still has the upper hand, know the face and name of the person for black mail. LIGHT YAGAMI IS KIRA! is what Near figures out definitely, and he just needs to make it clear, gather information, and catch Light with the person who is now murdering by the notebook. Back to “L’s team”, Matsuda is commenting on Sakura’s T.V. shows, and talking to Ide about how it’s interesting that “Kira’s Kingdom” is a worldwide event to Kira. Ide comments on how the show gets a 78% rating. Furthermore, all the commercials on the T.V. broadcast “Our company supports Kira”, and Light suddenly says that he agrees with Matsuda that the world is going into Kira’s direction, and barely anyone is left to support L.

Meanwhile, Aizawa further contemplates on the identity of Kira, and Light in turn makes sure not to make a bad move, but he desperately needs to get in contact with Mikami before their thoughts diverge. Watching the T.V., Mikami sees a bunch of people asking to become spokesman to the Kira show, and Mikami wonders why Kira hasn’t gotten into contact with him yet, if he is in a corner where he can’t move, and what he wants him to do.

Either way, he decides he needs to “get permission” from him. Light is continuing to watch Sakura T.V. when the announcer asks some other people their comments on Kira. Mikami steps forward (surprising Light since he is exposing himself) and indirectly asks for permission from “Kira” that he should judge and things like that. Light gets the message, but can’t do anything, and Mikami thinks that he will give Kira 3 days to give him an answer before he chooses a spokesperson. 3 days later, Matsuda is rejoicing over the new spokesperson who is “her” and the station is now NHN. Opening the t.v. Light sees Kiyomi Takada…
