Summary
The chapter started with Takada reporting Kira’s message to the world that evils shall be punished and such. Mikami sat in front of his computer thinking how he met Takada and why he chosed Takada as the new Kira Kingdom messenger. Through a special discussion program, Mikami was able to get to know Takada’s views on criminals and evils in the world. He then slowly realized that she was on Kira’s side more or less. So he chosed her to be the new messenger of Kira.

On another hand, Raito looked at the news and started analysing the situation. He thought that it was a coincidence that Mikami chosed his ex-girlfriend. But it was a good choice, because Raito would never think to use someone he knew as a Kira messenger, but at the same time, Mikami must’ve spend a lot of consideration to chose her, so this simplified a lot of things.

Mogi knew that Takada was Raito’s ex-girlfriend. And Raito also knew that the invetigation team knew. Raito wanted to use this coincidence to turn the table and make everyone believe him again, and also get in contact with Mikami. If Raito wanted to kill both Near and Mello, he must gain contact with Mikami. And he also realized that there was a high chance of him being suspected by Near. And so, Raito wanted to expose things. Meanwhile, Mello was stalking Misa and thought that even though Misa was being watched, the Kira activities still went on.

And NHN (the new TV station being chosen to broadcast Kira’s message) never stopped reporting Kira’s messages. He thought that even though Misa was the second Kira before, she no longer played in the role. He also thought that it was uselss to threaten her to tell the truth because he got informed that she wouldn’t confess anything before when she was being jailed by L. But from the conversation she had with Mogi, Mello knew that she had a lover named Raito, and that Raito was probably the current L. Mello decided to focus his target on L(Raito) instead of Misa.

Mogi and Aizawa started exchanging their thoughts on Takada being the messenger. They were confused of why Raito wanted to use someone so obviously known to him. And they also thought that Misa couldn’t be Kira because they’ve been watching her. Just when they couldn’t figure things out, Raito called on them. Raito told the investigation team that he wanted to go back to Japan and do the case. Because he thought that Kira was still in Japan. Also, he told them, that he had a close relationship with the Kira messenger, Takada. He told them that it would be easier to investigate from her to get Kira’s news. This shocked Aizawa a bit more because Raito wasn’t hiding the fact that he knew Takada. But the investigation team was afraid that Takada might not cooperate with them because of her fear to Kira and the Kira followers around her. Raito told them that he knew her cell phone number and that he could call her out anytime. But he knew that she was a really passionate Kira follower. Raito told them that they could use this as her weak point and asked her to grant permission for the Japanese police force to follow Kira. The police force publically announced that they agreed with Kira, and actually they only did it because they didn’t want to anger Kira. Raito could tell her that he was in the police force. To a Kira follower like Takada, having Kira rule over the police seemed to be a nice thing to hear. Raito asked the rest of the team to trust him and let him contact her. Though he also agreed to let them listen to their conversation. And so, the Kira investigation team took different planes and went back to Japan.

Near got the news that Takada was Raito’s ex-girlfriend when they were in university. And they thought that it wasn’t a coincidence. Near thought that Kira shouldn’t contact someone he knew in this situation even though it was easier. But even if Raito contacted someone he knew, the investigation team should knew and report to Near, but they didn’t. If Raito didn’t get in contact with Takada, but gave her messages through the current DeathNote owner, Near still couldn’t understand why he chose Takada.

Also, there was a chance that Raito still didn’t get in contact with the current DeathNote owner under the watchful eyes of the invetigation team, so under this circumstance, the thing that Raito wanted to do the most was probably to get in contact with the current deathnote owner. Near asked Lester to get in contact with Takada or pretended to be one of Kira’s followers. Takada now was surrounded by Kira followers and she acted like a goddness because of her new title. Lester was afraid that the Japanese investigation team might tell Raito of his true identity once he was discovered by them. Near told him not to worry because the investigation team had no reason to do so. And even if they did, Raito couldn’t kill Lester because once Lester was killed, they could be sure that Raito is Kira. Near decided to go to Japan also because there was a 80%~90% of a chance that both deathnote and Kira were in Japan.

The last scene showed that Raito had arrived in Japan and called Takada. He told her to come to his room and that he had something important to tell her. Takada was surprised by Raito’s phone call, but she was also pleased. She pretended that it was inappropriate because she thought that Raito was still with Misa. Raito lied to her that Misa was not “intelligent” enough to be his other half. However, deep down, Raito was smirking to himself that women were too easy to understand.
