Summary
The chapter begins as Takada is talking on the phone to light. She wonders what he wanted to ask her, while Raito thinks to himself what he might say and do so he might not look suspicious and use Takada. Raito answers Takada, (obviously flattering her) that she is a woman that attracts the attention of everyone across the globe, and when asked if that is the reason he called her, he denies it, making up an excuse that he was too busy, and that it was “destiny” that he should talk to her (sound familiar =/?).
Takada, of course, knew that Light was pretty sure that Light worked for the NPA, and asks him anyways, and Raito of course, responds in the positive. He tells her that he has something important to talk about with her regarding the world’s situation and Takada agrees that it won’t hurt to hear him out. Raito, the smart guy that he is, tells her that he doesn’t want to talk on the telephone and would rather meet her somewhere. Takada, with no doubt, tells him that her guards follow her everywhere and it might be a problem for her to meet with him. Raito quickly tells her that he can reserve a hotel room and that she can meet him in there, and refuse to let the guards enter with her. Takada affirms this to be true, saying she does have some privacy, and that she’ll just keep them waiting outside.
Raito then asks her what time would be good for her, and after Takada explains that she has to stick close to the station in order to get Kira’s message except for at night, Raito tells her that he will reserve a room and call her to meet that night. Meanwhile, at the airport, Mello watches Amane Misa very closely, and observes that she is going back to Japan. He also sees Mogi, and reflects how he hasn’t heard from Mat, since he was supposed to be watching Mogi.
Aizawa of course, begins to remind Light, before Light cuts him off to finish the sentence, that Raito will enter the hotel room first, and that they are free to set up cameras and things to watch him. Aizawa, apologetically tells him that he’ll do that. Light now reminds him that Takada is a Kira follower and he will only be Pretending to be one to gain her trust, and the others affirm that they already know that. Light tells them, that now that THAT is settled, they should reserve a room, but he is quickly corrected, as Tacky will be on T.V. and they can watch the 6-o’clock news and prepare until 8-o’clock, and Light agrees that they should watch carefully. Hence the news report starts.
On the news Takada introduces herself and everything like normal. While she does this, Light reflects that Mikami is doing much better than he had expected, but that Mikami is also judging people who commit crime without ill intent, and hence he needs to leave the role of Kira to him and just get in touch with Takada to use her. Meanwhile, back on the news, Takada speaks of “Kira’s message”, which is that he will not allow any people who don’t do anything in society to live either, suprising the group, as one of them blurts out “Is she saying Slackers will be killed?” Raito agrees with Mikami (in his thoughts) that slackers are of no benefit to society, but that it is much to early to do this right now. Matsuda and Ide meanwhile talk discuss the message, Matsuda saying that it is all wishful thinking, but Ide correcting him that Kira is forcibly making the world into reality. Matsuda then reflects that if he were able to do so, that would make Kira a god. After the small conversation, they say they need to reserve a room.
In the hotel room, the cameras and everything get set up as the 9-oclock news is over. Raito then calls Takada on her cell phone, telling her to meet him in room 2501 on the Teitoh Hotel. Takada tells her guards that she is going to the hotel to meet a friend of hers, and that they can guard her as far as the enterance, but she won’t allow them to check out her friend, to which they agree. Upon entering the room, Light says that he has wanted to meet her, and that she should have a seat. He immediately tells her that he is going to be direct, and explains that he wants her to make an appeal to Kira on the behalf of the NPA as he the current NPA wants to co-operate with Kira and not oppose it, since the world has changed so much.
