BB Case Novel >> BB Case Summary
The following summary was done by Sephastic-Sama and posted here with permission. Thank you so much :)!!!Chapters 1-2
Premise: In LA, there have been cases of killings (3 total, by the end of the novel), and these are all pretty graphic killings. L gets involved, and he enlists Naomi’s “help.” Actually, he basically emails her, and says he needs her assistance, in his typical mysterious fashion.
So Naomi goes to help, and after some phone conversations with “L,” she is rather reassured, and agrees to help. L asks Naomi to go to the crime scene (I think the reason he asks her is because she’s interested in the case, and like, brings a fresh perspective to the case, but I’m not sure why he picked her), and they continue their convo via cellphone, and L asks her for her impressions, etc (it was quite funny, since Naomi was all “Are you asking for my help so we can work together by bouncing ideas off of each other?” and L was all “...No.” XD Stubborn little kid :O).
L, in true stubbornly socially awkward fashion, basically works and guides Naomi through the phone call, while offering very little information, but he did say if Naomi needs his help, she may call him at a certain number. They then hang up, and Naomi is still left alone at the crime scene, when she hears this loud noise. She’s all freaked out, with good reasons, because being left alone at a crime scene when you hear a noise = er, generally not happy.
She goes to see, and who does she meet? L, CRAWLING FROM UNDER HIS LITTLE HIDING POST FROM UNDER THE BED XDDDDDDDDD. Naomi’s freaked, and asks him who he is, and L replies that she may call him Ryuuzaki. (Naomi like, does NOT know this Ryuuzaki boy is actually L, until the VERY END, and after the arrest and er, I’ll get to that part later, because I’m a little unclear about that part and the ending) Basically, L is doing a two-way investigation, I guess. He’s communicating with Naomi via cellphone as “L,” and also doing on-site investigating WITH Naomi as “Ryuuzaki.” Haven’t read far enough to realize why exactly he’s doing this, but it’s probably because he’s simply testing her, since we see that same kind of “testing” later in Death Note chapters anyway. Also, this way, I should think he’d get twice the amount of information, Naomi’s impressions, reactions, etc, all of which would be helpful, and HONEST, since she’d think she’s investigating with some random detective guy, and not THE L, which might hinder some of her analysis, etc. Smart move on L’s part? :O
SO ANYWAY
Naomi wonders why the hell this “Ryuuzaki” would be here at the crime scene as well, and Ryuuzaki replies that he’s a private detective. To be exact, and this part gets lost in the translation, “Ryuuzaki” (aka L) says that he’s a detective with no legiance, and solves crimes. So they discuss the case, and of course, Ryuuzaki arrives at the same conclusions, deductions, and even has the same obscure evidence that L has (XD), which surprises Naomi quite a bit, but she never once thought L = Ryuuzaki. Naomi keeps wondering who this person is.
Apparently, there was a special crossword puzzle sent to the police awhile ago, and both L/Ryuuzaki said that it’s a clue to the victims or something. The police, however, failed to realize this, because it’s so obscure of a detail. And there are numbers laid out at the crime scene, such as the victims’ bodies’ configurations, and I THINK roman numerals were carved on the victims’ bodies. AGAIN, not sure. That part got lost on me. In any case, “Ryuuzaki” has a copy of the crossword puzzle (since er, he IS L, and obviously has access to get it), and Naomi wonders why this stranger would have it, and still doesn’t connect that this stranger with “panda eyes” would be the legendary L.
In any case, that puzzle is the key to understanding who, what, why of the case. And just when this was getting good…..Ryuuzaki runs off and announces it’s lunch time for him. He goes straight for the fridge (btw, this is STILL in the crime scene – in one of the victims’ home), and gets out a jar of jam. Naomi’s disgusted, but Ryuuzaki reassures her that he brought this himself, and he eats the jam right out of the jar, while guzzling down tea. Insert more Naomi going “WTF?!?!?!?!?” only in more eloquent terms.
Ryuuzaki then explains more about the Roman Numerals, and how the victims are configured(???????? This part = me going huh? D:), and in any case, it’s clear that from Naomi’s perspective, it’s REALLY STRANGE that here was this uncouth boy who knew so much. She excuses herself by saying she had to go use the bathroom, and calls up “L” from her cellphone. L answers, and asks her if she was alone. Naomi explains that it’s strange this so-called private detective was here. L basically tells her to not do anything about it yet right now (oh, dramatic irony XDD)
So Naomi comes back out from the bathroom, and gets a face full of Ryuuzaki, who’s right outside the bathroom door XDDDDDD (...he IS a pervert XD;). Naomi’s all worried that this “Ryuuzaki” might’ve heard her conversation, but stays calm. Ryuuzaki then drags Naomi to come over to see what he has found.
Ryuuzaki: You were in the bathroom, but I didn’t hear you pee or use the faucet. What were you doing? O.O
Naomi: .....................That’s a very rude question =_=;
Ryuuzaki: Oh, then forget it. But it’s really not that strange when you think about it, since it’s not like we’re intimate or anything. So it’s not a question about male-femaled relations, but just about cleanliness. (LOOSELY TRANSLATED XD)
Naomi: =____=;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Ryuuzaki then drags her over and points down. To 11 volumes of Akazukin cha cha manga (actual manga!)
Ryuuzaki: POINTS!
Naomi: ...what are we looking at…?
Ryuuzaki: Manga.
Naomi: .....Okay…....
Ryuuzaki: It’s a favorite
Naomi: of whom…?
Ryuuzaki: It’s MY favorite O.O
(ps. Look up akazukin cha cha. You’ll know why this is hilarious that L reads this XD)
So then Ryuuzaki/L gets into a conversation about why Akazukin cha cha is a good read, and apparently he really liked the anime series too, and strongly encourages Naomi to watch it XDDDDDDD Think your typical creepy otaku boy.
But, the significance is in that there are two volumes missing (4 and 9?), and the next part = I have 0% understood. Maybe like, 0.1%, but still. But Ryuuzaki somehow deduces that the missing volumes —> page numbers —> words —> spells out “Quarter Queen,” and that’s the SECOND victim’s name. The killer has left them a message :O and it’s part of the crossword puzzle or something.
Chapter 3:
The chapter opens with some of the technical aspects that being L must face, since he basically has access and potential control of all police agencies around the world. There, of course, are difficulties. Safety being one of them, so he doesn’t show his face, but he also has to appeal to these police agencies…it’s a double-edged sword, being L, basically. Which is probably why L also emailed Naomi, and asked for her assistance, as she can be L’s eyes.
It then moves to Naomi still being puzzled about this appearance of a “Ryuuzaki.” He knows so much, yet it’s still so strange. The narrator of the novel then basically says to the reader “have you thought of the possiblity of L being Ryuuzaki yet?” (or something similar) Naomi apparently, has thought about it, but she remains suspicious and proceeds as usual.
The case is of course, very dangerous, and Naomi was attacked twice(??????) during the investigation. She was able to fend for herself, of course.
The novel then finally introduces the killer – his real name is “Beyond Birthday” (...weird? yes. XDDDD), and we just see him laughing or something like that after his attack on Naomi.
With all these things in mind, Naomi goes to meet up with “Ryuuzaki” at the second victim’s house/crime scene – Second victim’s name is “Quarter Queen” (first victim’s name is Believe Bridesmaid, third victim’s name is Backyard Bottomslash – all very weird names, all very important later :O), and is only a 13 year old girl. Her eyes were stabbed post-mortem, and apparently she got hit on the head or something???? EITHER WAY, it’s not a pretty death XD; Ryuuzaki and Naomi try to find connections among the victims, but are getting frustrated. So, they take a break.
Ryuuzaki: O.O Do you want any coffee, Naomi-san?
Naomi: Sure.
Ryuuzaki: toddles off to make coffee (....at the crime scene =_=;) and comes back with two cups Here you go.
Naomi: takes a sip AND SPEWS THE COFFEE BACK OUT XDDDDDDDDDD OMG WHAT THE FUH IS THIS!?!?!? DDDDXXXXXXXX
Ryuuzaki:...spewing out coffee like that is not very good for your wholesome image O.O;
Naomi: IT’S NOT COFFEE IT’S POISON DDDDDXXXXX (tastes very bad, I should imagine XD;)
RyuuzakI: It’s not poison, it’s just sugar.
Naomi:.........................................
Ryuuzaki: I like to put a lot so it’s like a pile/“mud”/“slush” of sugar (bad translation job here ;_;)
Naomi: ....Mud doesn’t taste good.
Ryuuzaki: ...but this is sweet mud O.O
XDDDDDDD His sugar addiction is going to get someone killed one day XD; So ANYWAY, they continue to investigate after the small break, and Ryuuzaki suggests that perhaps they can look at it from the victims’ initials perspective – since they were very interesting names. Naomi’s not exactly sold on the theory, but it’s something to consider. They then consider some of the strange things done to the victims. Specifically, limbs were chopped off. Left arm, right leg, for this particular victim or something. And on another victim, it was the opposite. And the victims were placed in a very particular fashion (face down, face up, etc etc). Naomi decides to go take another break, and sees her own reflection in the mirror. And she keeps thinking about the 13 year old victim, and then she has an idea about the victims’ bodies – they’re mirror images of each other.
Naomi: yanks the crime scene photos from Ryuuzaki :O and puts them against the mirror to see the images as symmetrical images THERE. Don’t you think it’s strange??!?
Ryuuzaki: They’re dead. That IS strange O.O
Naomi: ......There’s nothing strange there about being dead (she meant like, Ryuuzaki is stating the obvious XD)
Ryuuzaki: oooh, that’s quite philosophical.
Naomi: Please don’t change the subject.
She rushes over to take the crime scene photos from Ryuuzaki and shows him this. Ryuuzaki then combines this with the previous idea about the initials. Naomi corrects him that the bodies don’t look like their initials – you can’t exactly lay out a body like a “Q” XDD;; So Ryuuzaki says to have the initials in the lower-case. So it spells out “b b q q b b” – and there you go. Mirror images.
Naomi also further notes that for initials, you usually use uppercase letters for them. But since the victim’s a CHILD, you’d use lower-case (victim = small). This part I got kind of lost on, for her reasoning, but this should be the main gist?? DDD:?
Chapter 4:
Chapter opens with something philosophical, about the nature of killing – whether it’s easy, something like that, which got me a bit confused XD; In any case, apparently Beyond Birthday (the killer) has NATURAL SHINIGAMI EYES O_______O (...I really hope it’s because I translated wrong, because er, wtf?!?!?!?!?!) . He was born with them, and so he can see everyone’s names, and their lifespan (so he knows when they’d die). It’s explained that it’s not clear how he got them, since er, usually you’d exchange them with a shinigami, get half of your own life chopped off, etc etc. In any case, Beyond Birthday’s father was killed by a robber(????) and his mother died in a car accident, and none of these really fazed him, then he entered Wammy’s house, renamed B, and he was called merely “the second child” (significance explained later on XD;)
So we see him getting ready for the day, waking up at 6, annnnnd he laughs like a nutcase psycho XD; He knows that Naomi is L’s eyes. And he did attack Naomi. He was doing a test/experiment. He then says that “If L’s a genius, B will be even MORE of a genius. If L will be a deviant (...word here used is the same as “hentai” XDDDD But it means like, deviant too XD;), B will be even MORE of a deviant.” He laughs some more and then goes to get ready.
The date is August 19th, annd they’re now at Backyard Bottomslash’s house (third victim’s house). Raye calls up Naomi, in the meantime, since she asked him to check if a “Ryuuzaki Rue” (the fake name that Ryuuzaki gave her when he first crawled out from under the bed at the first crime scene XDDD) is registered as a private detective. Raye says no. This person doesn’t exist anywhere, so they thought he might be either (a) from Japan or (b)using a fake name or possibly both (?????? Not really sure about their conversation ___;)
Naomi and Ryuuzaki continues discussing the significance of the initials (and this part = completely lost on me XDDDDD;;;;;;;), and Naomi goes to call L. L in the meantime, has succefully deduced the significance of the two missing manga volumes (akazukin cha cha XD) – vol. 4 and 9. Today, august 19th = 6 days after the initial killings (I don’t really get which killing L is referring to, but it’s 6 days after something XD;). In 3 more days – so a total of 9 days after – the killer will strike again. L says they must strike as well on that date – August 22nd, and apprehend the killer, and he has confidence they will do so.
L then expresses concern about Naomi getting attacked. Naomi assures him she knows how to take care of herself, and he shouldn’t worry. L is intrigued 8D! He asks what kind of fighting technique she knows: judo, karate, etc XDD (and sounding a bit like a fanboy XD;). Naomi says she knows “kapoera” (this is in katakana, and I have NO CLUE WHAT IT IS XDDDDD But it’s a fighting technique o.o;;;;). L is glad she knows how to defend herself. He then reveals something.
L: Actually, ever since the beginning, I knew who did this.
Naomi: EH!?!?!??!?
L: The criminal is…
L:...The criminal is B.
Switch over to L’s background story and Wammy’s House. We all know that Quilsh Wammy, successful inventor, set up an orphanage, post WWII, to help these kids. Nobody knows what L was doing before meeting Watari/Quilsh Wammy. BUT, we do know that in any case, Watari realized that L had something nobody else had, which is that special detective sense. He was taken into the orphanage, and taught to be the legendary detective L. There is one problem with L’s success. If he dies, world-wide crime rate would increase. So, they had to make “copies” of L – heirs – in case that happens. And that is “us” (I guess the narrator of the novel is someone from Wammy’s House), referring to the children in Wammy’s house. They consider themselves L’s children.
There was one problem with finding the future sucessor of L, though. The first designated heir, named A, committed suicide because they couldn’t handle the pressure of being L’s heir. There was some kind of failure. B, who was the second heir after A, did NOT want to be a mere backup to L. Near and Mello therefore, are considered 4th generations of Wammy’s house, by the way :O (Since the order goes as follows: (1)L—> (2)A (who suicides) —> (3)B (who became a killer) —> (4) Near and Mello). So B became the killer.
L.A.B.B. case, which is known to most people as Los Angeles B.B serial killer case, actually therefore, has a different meaning to those who are familiar with the story behind Wammy’s House, L and B. It means “L is after Beyond Birthday” (the REAL name of B).
Another thing is that B, who is also from Wammy’s House, has seen L, and due to shinigami eyes, knows L’s real name. And because they grew up together, in a way, B also knows a LOT about L. But in any case, he has offered a challenge to the supposed best detective in the world. B will be the ultimate criminal to L’s ultimate detective. And L accepts that challenge.
Chapter 5:
The pace of the case moves quicker than ever, since L insists upon the date August 22nd as the date the killer would move in for the final kill. Naomi and L continues to keep in touch after the 19th, and they arrange for an arrest, with the police, etc.
Now the next part = a LOT of intricate details about the case revolving around the letter “B,” which Ryuuzaki also tells Naomi. I can’t follow all of them, unfortunately ;_; But the main idea is that “13” looks like B, and that there are also a lot of focus of the clues on the number “4” (again, because it’s one of the missing manga volumes), and 4 can be a result of “1+3” = there’s that “13” again.
There’s then a small interlude about how at Wammy’s House, EVERYONE’s goal is to be the next L. They all aspire to be him. So this case is also a “copy” (B) vs “original” (L). They also named B as the criminal of the group, M(ello) as the future challenger, and N(ear) as the heir. Just a little relationship background to how they all know L XD
So Naomi and Ryuuzaki are still thinking about the case in the last 2-3 couple of days before the arrest….
Naomi: Excuse me, Ryuuzaki-san….
Ryuuzaki: O.O Corpse
Naomi: ...HUH!?
Ryuuzaki: I’m trying to be a corpse right now (Ryuuzaki’s kind of sitting in all sorts of weird positions XDDDD and trying them out. At one point, he even recommends to Naomi to sit the way he does since that helps him think XDDDDDD). I canno’t answer, since corpses don’t answer.
Naomi: ..................
Now the next part = I’m lost XD; But it involves body parts, and about how certain limbs were chopped off, and placed in different places in the victims’ homes. Somehow, they deduced together that the victims’ homes are like a clock or a keyboard, and the limbs are telling them at WHAT TIME the 4th and final murder would take place. Example, apparently it also deals with degrees of a circle, and therefore, at what time, etc etc.
But the point is that they figured out the time of the 4th murder will be on August 22nd (which L figured out and told Naomi over the phone), and it will at 6 o’clock, fifteen minutes, and 50 seconds.
Chapter 6:
It’s now August 22nd, and they’re getting ready for the arrest (...more like only Naomi and L and co. are getting ready for the arrest XD;;;;). The one problem is that they don’t know if it will be 6:15:50 in the morning, or in the afternoon, since it was not specified. I’m not entirely sure how they figured it out in the end, of if they simply decided to just stake out the place the entire day. But in any case, the am/pm is no longer a concern? XD;
Also, since the final victim, whoever they may be, would definitely have the initials “B.B” for their name, they were able to narrow it down to only 2 people in the LA area. So, Naomi and Ryuuzaki went to the condominium to hunt down the murderer/catch him in the act. The plan for Ryuuzaki is that he will buy off the two potential victims with large amounts of money, and send them to a luxury hotel (...sound quite familiar considering some of the stuff L does in Death Note manga XD;) . With people safely out of the way, they can concentrate on apprehending the killer.
Naomi, meanwhile, was rather touched that Ryuuzaki used the word “we” – since now she feels like they’re actually all working together. However, right when Ryuuzaki left to go buy off the victims…
Naomi: Ryuuzaki-san, please be careful. The killer is very dangerous.
Ryuuzaki: Don’t worry. I’m good at this one-on-one fighting. Besides, Naomi-san, you’re quite good with “kapoera,” right? (NOTE: I don’t know what kapoera is ;__; It’s in katakana, some form of fighting…)
Naomi: ..Yeah, it’s true, but still…
So then Ryuuzaki went off, and the Ryuuzaki-Naomi team splits into two to cover more ground.
But then Naomi realizes. She never told Ryuuzaki about her being good at “kapoera.” She only told L during that phone call.
The only other person who would know she’s good at kapoera? Would be the killer, Beyond Birthday, aka B, who attacked her, and got first-hand knowledge when Naomi fought back against him.
Naomi realizes that RYUUZAKI IS THE KILLER. (aka B in disguise) (Actually, I’m not entirely sure if she had a very clear “AHA!” kind of moment, but it kept saying “she finally understood,” so she most likely DID)
YES. VERY BIG WTF OMG HUH!?!?!?? KIND OF MOMENT XDDDD I was really confused when I er, skipped ahead without reading the entire novel, and thought Ryuuzaki and L were the same person (they ARE the same person, in the later Death Note manga that deals with Kira, but not so in the novel, as we shall see in the aftermath chapter which explains everything XDDDDDD and has a cute ending). But they are NOT the same person O________O;;;;;;;;;
But Naomi is still kind of confused, and kind of just trying to figure out why someone would do this. Especially kill a 13 year old child (the second victim). It’s now just a little past 9 am, and she’s still in the condominium where the killer would strike, waiting for her next move. (but I’m also pretty sure that she realizes the killer might target her, since she’s like a link to L in this case or something) She then realizes she needs to get in contact with L. So she calls L.
L reassures Naomi that she should be fine. Their next part of the conversation is really nice. The latter parts got a little over my head, but hopefully the main idea’s there ___;;;;;;;;
Naomi: The criminal…do you know? (she’s been having all these ideas that L knows the criminal personally)
L: Yes. I said before it was B.
Naomi: No, I meant if you knew them personally.
L: Yes.
Naomi: There’s still something I don’t quite understand.
L: What is it?
Naomi: What kind of relationship is there between the two of you?
L: We have none.
L: To be exact, B does know me. And he knows a lot about how I work (and something something that I can’t quite follow ________;). In any case, we do not have any ties with each other. Because I am justice. (since, like, B’s a criminal now, and L is justice…yeah. He severed any ties they might’ve had from Wammy’s house?)
Naomi: ...Justice.
Naomi: ...So. For L, outside of justice…what else…?
L: That’s not what I meant. I meant that’s my first priority.
Naomi: Yeah, but….
L: It’s my first priority.
In any case, I guess by this point, Naomi really really respects L, since he’s the world’s best detective, and he is a detective of justice.
She then hangs up, and thinks about …I think the way the bodies are placed? This part was a lot of inner monologue, thoughts. But a lot of it dealt with Ryuuzaki, and some of the hints at the crime scenes.
Naomi thought that no matter what, no matter who Ryuuzaki is, who L is, that slouching shoulder look, just shows how heavy the burden is; and all those need for sugar, just shows how tasteless it all is. A thankless job that’s really dangerous ;____;
But in any case, her thoughts were interrupted by a loud scream. Naomi realizes it’s Ryuuzaki, and she runs to room 404 (she’s in room 1313 of the condominium complex where the two potential victims live, and they all deduced this earlier XD). She runs, and knocks down doors. And something’s on fire.
And there’s also the smell of gasoline. The last method of killing is to use fire (he’s already hung someone, used blunt object to someone’s head, stabbed someone, so er…). The good thing though, is that it set off the alarm set up, and Naomi uses a fire extinguisher.
The person on fire was Ryuuzaki (aka B). He set himself on fire with gasoline. He’s a little disoriented, and Naomi says she’ll call the ambulance, etc. She realizes that he is HEAVILY burnt, not at all recognizable, but barely alive. She knows he can’t help him, but, she took out a pair of handcuffs, and arrests him. Ryuuzaki, aka Beyond Birthday, is arrested for the three murders.
Last Page (aftermath chapter):
It starts off saying that this is not an easy case. Apparently, Beyond Birthday, having known all of L’s personality quirks (the sugar, the coffee, the general quirkiness), and having seen L in person before, completely imitated his mannerisms. He thought this would be the perfect way to get to L – through Naomi, since she is L’s eyes in this case.
What is also interesting and indicative is the fake name that B gave to Naomi – Ryuuzaki Rue. In Japanese, R and L are basically the same, so the initials of the fake name can also be L.L. Meaning, B is trying to be …even more of an L than the original L that we all know. He’s trying to prove that the copy is even better than the original.
B had basically originally planned to suicide at the end of the case, by fire. That way, his face would be unrecognizable – no fingerprints either. And even if they traced it back to Wammy’s House, he’d still be B. No identification. The case would never be resolved, and would die when B sets himself on fire. Therefore, L would lose, because the case would then never really truly conclude. L would alwasy be chasing after this shadow of B, even after his death. Because it will be the one case that haunts L – B’s objective.
UNFORTUNATELY, B did not factor in Naomi (one of the other reasons that L asked for her help :OO I guess this is probably because L knows that B would pull something like this, and L can use Naomi to smoke him out, kind of, and enlisted her help, since L never really explained just why else he needed a third-party in this case. Smart XD). And B was far too proud when he attacked Naomi, then went back a few hours later as Ryuuzaki to supposedly “help” her. B’s false sense of pride comes from the fact that he’s daring enough to copy L’s mannerism, approach Naomi, offer these ideas on the case that he knows she’ll realy back to L, so B can show L that he can be just as good, if not better. YET, that pride costed him. ESPECIALLY since he completely slipped up, and said that Naomi was good at kapoera, which was a tip-off right away to Naomi that Ryuuzaki = the killer. And her suspicion of him never really went away.
B has lost to Naomi, and to L.
B, of course, did not die by fire XD because Naomi stopped him. He was arrested, brought to the hospital, all that good stuff. The narrator emphasized that B-sempai is extremely pitiful, and there’s a sense of waste and sadness about how B had turned out. And it’s pretty interesting, since the narrator of the novel must be someone from Wammy’s House, or knows them really well, since he calls B, sempai. He also knows from L, L’s first case (when he was only around 8, which is when he got discovered O_O), some notes about a case with bombing that almost started a war. The narrator also have L’s notes about the case (the novel starts post-Kira, with the narrator reminiscing about this case, I think, so it’s a refreshing perspective).
In any case, Naomi, because of the arrest, obviously got a recommendation, promotion etc. She still doesn’t really quite get the backstory between “Ryuuzaki aka B” and L. But she does think that B, willing to sacrifice himself just to challenge one person, in a way, kind of shows his own strength, though he is still a very cruel serial killer (again, throughout this entire aftermath chapter, there is that sense of uneasiness and sadness re: B, so that’s kind of repeated here)
Naomi then goes to the subway station, still thinking. And the next part = just wonderful ___ I’ll do my best to directly translate the passage and conversation ;_;
She sees a lean young man by himself in the subway station. His eyes show that he hasn’t slept in a long time. Possibly never slept since he was born. Maybe he hasn’t slept since he’s been so busy, fighting in the name of Justice, when no one else would. This young man, maybe, never have time to sleep. It’s a daily battle for this young man.
Long-sleeved, white shirt, blue jeans.
Bare feet in a pair of old, overly-worn sneakers.
There was just something very different about this young man before her.
Naomi notes that there was a sense of similiarity between the fake Ryuuzaki Rue, aka B, aka the killer Beyond Birthday, and this man. But there was something very definitely different about THIS ONE in front of her, in the subway station. A sense that he is the original.
“Hmm…I wonder where I am…”
The young man looked around, then freaking TACKLED NAOMI XDDDDDDDDDD
Annnd then insert a nice little one-on-one fight between THE REAL RYUUZAKI AKA L and Naomi XDDDDDDDDDDDD. L puts up quite the fight and made Naomi struggle, but she IS an FBI agent…sooo…
Naomi: __;;; Are you okay?!?
L/REAL RYUUZAKI XD: _____ I see. Even though I saw it in the video about this kind of fighting, it’s kind of different in real life. But it’s a good learning experience O.O
Naomi: ...HuH!?!?!?!??!!?
Naomi: ...Um, can you stand? offers a hand to L
L: takes Naomi’s hand Thank you very much.
Naomi: No, it’s alright. It was my fault too.
L: I’m okay. Really, thank you very much.
The young man continues to hold Naomi’s hand, and looked very serious. Even after he finally stands back up again, he was still holding her hand. They compared it to two old veterans who returned from a war, triumphant, and offering thanks that are beyond words.
L: You’re a very good person.
L smiles at Naomi, and then leaves, walking slowly toward the stairs.
Naomi: Hey!! Wait a minute! chases after him!
She finds him, and asks L what does he think he’s doing (she doesn’t know who this young man is, but she most likely has an inkling XD).
L doesn’t respond.
Naomi: Being quiet is not an answer in this case, and not a good attitude. Will you at least give me your name?
The young man looks back at her.
“You can call me Ryuuzaki.”
We all know who really is able to take that name. (own note: YAY REAL L 8DDDDDDDDD)
The novel ends by saying that in 2004, January 21st, Beyond Birthday dies of a sudden heart attack.
That’s the end of the novel. Hopefully the summary/translation was okay ;_; But yeah. I never once expected Ryuuzaki that was with Naomi = the killer. Especially since the author described him exactly as L, but disguising himself as L was…wow XDDD Nice surprise XD
Other Important Notes – The narrator of the novel is Mello, since in the beginning prologue it says the following “I am the underdog of the old world, bestdresser of the pointless death – Mihael Keehl.” as pointed out in the livejournal post.
