Extra Things about Death Note
terms >> Extra Things about Death Note
These are a bunch of mixed facts about the Death Note. They may contain spoilers.
- The user of the Death Note,as mentioned above, needs to know the person’s name to kill them. So, if someone has changed their real name, or taken a penname, they cannot kill them. However, one way around this is to obtain Shinigami Eyes. In order to strike a deal with the Shinigami for this, the person’s REMAINING life span is shortened by half *meaning if you were to die in 40 years, you would die now in 20. With this, the person could not only see the name of the person, but their lifespan as well. Misa does this, as do other characters in Death Note.
- In the case of a person who has shinigami eyes, they must see the person in order to see their name and lifespan. Generally, their head must be seen (at least from the top to the middle: forehead to nose). This can also be a photograph, since they capture real life, but drawings do not work.
- For Shinigami, the Death Note is used to prolong their life and make them immortal. Basically, they kill people using their own death note, before the time given and the extra years that the people had taken away, are added onto the lifespan of the shinigami. For example, if a shinigami killed someone who was supposed to die at 40 (remember, they can tell this because their eyes display the life-spans of everyone) at the age of 20, then the shinigami would live for 20 years extra. Hence, they are immortal as long as they keep using their death note. But if a shinigami forgets to use it, or gets lazy, they will die.
- A Shinigami cannot tell anyone of their life-span and the person who possesses the Death Note will not have their life-span visible to anyone even those with the shinigami eyes.
- A Shinigami cannot purposely prolong a person’s life, if he/she does so, they will disappear (I suppose die)
- In the case of ownership, the first person to touch the death note will become the owner. The owner can see the shinigami who the death note belongs to. In the case of no shinigami, as in he/she disappeared, that death note should have been returned to the king of Shinigami (in assumption).
- The owner can, at any time forfeit the ownership of the death note, however, all memories related to the Death Note will disappear, as well as the shinigami will once again become invisible to this person. This ownership can be regained if no other person has not claimed ownership already, but memories can be regained simply by touching a piece of the the death note. If more than one death note was in the posession of the person, only one need to be touched in order for the owner to regain the memories revolving around either death note, and being able to see the shinigami.
